Praise for this book

I love sci-fi stories, but there are a lot to choose from ... many I find can't keep my attention. But "Tales of the Machine War" is very satisfying. From the beginning with the enemies the "Dark Minds," the author sets the stage for a compelling story.

A well told story, mind you. The pacing is well done, and I never felt the story slowed down. There are numerous characters within, and I enjoyed reading about all of them.

As a reader of book one, I'm familiar with the author and back story. But I think anyone can pick this book up and follow along. Though I would suggest reading it as it will make this one even more enjoyable.

Speaking of the author John Maldonado, I love the growth I saw between the two books. Editing, formatting, and wording are really impressive. Great job with Jonas Ares, as his chaotic mentality is my cup of tea.

Additionally, I like the introduction to the next book at the end of this one ... I can't wait to see where the story goes.

John Maldonado has given his readers a gripping and action packed prequel to his seminal first book, Shadows Within the Empire. If you liked that book this is a tasty little palate cleanser and lead up to what should be a marvelous book 2.

My only regret is that it took me 2 days to read!

I was looking forward to this short story after reading Maldonado's Nephilim War Book 1. Tales of the Machine War was a great read. Fast-paced, exciting, and backstories that made me appreciate the characters of his Book 1. I recommend this book. And I am eagerly awaiting Book 2 of Nephilim War.
